Cracker Barrel is a restaurant that mimics an old country store. The food is good, but the prices have recently increased. You will get down home food here, and most dishes are very good. The corn bread is almost inedible, but that is an exception. There is a "store" there with a lot of good stuff and old fashioned food and other interesting items.
I was there the other day and the Christmas decorations were out. I thought the trees looked so pretty that I snapped a couple of pictures. Hope you enjoy!
We've eaten at Cracker Barrel for years, locally and all over America as we have travelled the country. They have a wide variety of some of the very best "home style" cooked food there is. They specialize in a variety of breakfast items which are served all day. Delicious pancakes and waffles with real maple and blueberry syrup. Grits, sausage gravy, biscuits, corn bread and sour dough bread. Sausage, bacon and steak, plus much more. For lunch and dinner there is something for everyone. Grilled, baked or fried chicken, fish, beef and steak. All served with a choice of home made sides like mashed potatoes, dumplings, turnip greens, pinto beans, carrots, salads, baked potatoes, fried apples, green beans, etc. Plus delicious desserts.
Great place, there chicken and dumplings are amazing. I don't know how they do it but the chicken is so tender you don't really even have to chew it. And portions are huge, large serving of c&d plus 3 generous sides.
Expect amazing food, friendly service, and a warm welcoming atmosphere. I personally recommend their "Grandpa's Country Fried Breakfast" if you're going in for a real breakfast meal. The meat was so tender, and the gravy was made to perfection, not to mention the biscuits were fluffy and soft. I give this place 5 stars.
I love dining here since I live close. Great tasting food, good prices! The reason I didn't give all five stars is because half the time that I order carry out, they forget something that I had ordered. It would show on the receipt correctly. So, if you order carry out, double check your order before heading home! Hope this helps! Cracker Barrell has always been one of my favorite restaurants!
Oh, make sure to take a moment and sit in one of the rocking chairs: take note of the good food in your stomach, the fresh air in your lungs, and being able to be right there, right then.
The shop is fun, as well. Overpriced, but the clearance is worth checking out. Exception to that is they're selection of craft sodas; only place I know to find a bottle of Green River. And if you're striking out with the office exchange or your mother-in-law; great place to look. Lots of pretty baubles and puny candies.
Cracker Barrel is a nostalgic step back in time and a tourist attraction all in itself. Outside there is an inviting front porch that greets you spanning the length of the whole building filled with rocking chairs and tables with oversized checkers to play. You can relax there before or after your meal rocking, talking and playing checkers. When you go inside, it is a step back into time. It's like an old time country store. You will find candy that you haven't seen since you were a kid and didn't know they still made. The store is filled with so many unique gifts and treasures that are beautifully displayed. No matter what the season, you will find beautiful decorations for your home. There is a whole corner dedicated to the children with clothing and toys. Trust me there is something there for everyone! If you are one of the few people in America who have never stopped at Cracker Barrel to eat, please give it a try. It's a great way to reentergize a monotonous rode trip.
